Chemistry for Biomedical Sciences Resource Now Available!

In November 2009 VETNET LLN submitted a proposal to Edexcel for a new unit for the vocational framework. The unit was validated by QCF in 2010 under the title "Understand the Principles of Chemistry for Biological and Medical Sciences".

VETNET LLN funded the production of a mixed resource (a DVD and CD) to support this unit. Yvonne Richardson, CRM for Animal Care at St Helens College, immersed herself in producing a script for the DVD supported by course notes. The script and the course notes have been through an evolutionary process... and there have been times when it seemed as if the resource would never be finished!

The result? The DVD was filmed at numerous locations, including Liverpool’s School of Veterinary Science, Chester Zoo and St Helens College’s Animal Unit and laboratories. Steve Leonard, known for his TV appearances as well as being a vet, presented the DVD. Complementing the DVD, and using the same colour coded themes, is a series of course notes in pdf format and presented on a CD.

The mixed resource is available for members within the VETNET LLN network.
